Oregon Boys State is a week-long civics and leadership residential camp experience. Through a combination of lectures, direct instruction, and simulation, Citizens of Boys State learn about the American system of government, with specific emphasis on the policies and procedures of Oregon's model of government. Citizens are typically juniors entering their senior year in high school.

At Boys State, each citizen:

  • Learns about the government process, with specific focus on Oregon's procedures
  • Gains an understanding of the importance of civic involvement in the American system of government
  • Is afforded opportunities at personal growth and leadership though hands-on experience and activities

Participants who are signed up for the Oregon Boys State program are eligible to receive one University of Oregon college credit if they complete the program and prepare a reflective essay (additional fee $85.00).
