Son Le Hughes is the assistant director of finance and administration for Academic Extension (AE) at the University of Oregon (UO). Son Le is charged with strengthening and aligning AE’s administration and financial functions with the university’s core missions. Her responsibilities include budget, accounting, financial planning, business performance and strategic planning, human resources, and oversight of operational support. In this role, Son Le serves as the consultant for program managers, budget guidance for the division, and serves on the executive leadership team.
Son Le comes to Academic Extension with more than 22 years of financial management and teaching experience. Previous positions she has held include: business performance and strategic planning manager at the College of Business at Oregon State University; director of budget and accounting at Linn Benton Community College; and director of financial services for Student Affairs at the UO. In these positions, Son Le served as a key member of the college’s leadership teams. She was responsible for conducting strategic business and fiscal forecasting and financial planning, leading to accurate business decision making for the president, vice president, and dean. In addition to her administration position, Son Le serves as an adjunct professor at Northwest Christian University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Son Le is an active member in the Comprehensive Doctoral Research Institution of the National/Western Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO/WACUBO).
Son Le holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Oregon, a master’s degree in business administration from Northwest Christian University, and is currently working on her PhD degree from Oregon State University.
