Ruth Heller is director of lifelong learning programs for Academic Extension at the University of Oregon. In this capacity, she provides administrative oversight to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI-UO), the UO Insight Seminars, and the annual Road Scholar program offered in conjunction with the Oregon Bach Festival.
Ruth earned a BFA in dance performance from Texas Christian University and masters degrees in dance, and in arts management from the University of Oregon. She began her UO career as a graduate teaching fellow, then adjunct instructor in the Department of Dance. Her teaching responsibilities included studio and lecture courses. She also served as publicity coordinator for the department, an opportunity that helped her expand her interests in arts education to include community outreach and engagement.
As chair of the Lifetime Education and Renewal Network (LEARN) constituency group, Ruth served on the board of the American Society on Aging. She currently represents the OLLI-UO program within the national network of Osher institutes and has presented at both regional and national conferences. Her hobbies include, reading, walking, photography, and writing.
