ART 199: Beginning Watercolor
Learn basic watercolor technique or develop your existing watercolor skills. The class provides introduction to tools, color, drawing, and different styles. Develop your passion for watercolor by practicing your technique through still life, models, interior landscapes, and more.

ART 199: Pointed Brush Calligraphy
Contemporary pointed brush writing is lively and expressive, offering many creative possibilities for original art, for graphic work for reproduction, and for development as a computer font. In this workshop we will use this versatile tool to write a basic script for clear, readable text and an array of variations for texture and pattern based on words and writing. (No previous calligraphy experience required.)

Learn to set wood and metal type by hand and to print letterpress on vintage printing presses. All levels of experience are welcome.

ART 199: Pencil Illustration
Learn the properties of many kinds of pencils available today: graphite, soluble graphite, Graphitint, Inktense, watercolor pencil, No Blot ink pencil, and an array of colored pencils. Many can be used in combination with each other or with watercolor or pastel. Pencils allow a carefully built-up tonal surface or strong, energetic line work–or both–to produce a wide array of effects in illustration. (No previous drawing experience required.)
